Top of PagePRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE - AUGUST 2013

August 2013

Dear C. K. Price Students and Parents/Guardians:

My name is Jason Bramson and I am the new principal of C. K. Price Middle School. I have worked in the Orland Unified School District for the last five years at Orland High as the assistant principal. I'm very excited for my new assignment at    C. K. Price. I have more than thirteen years of experience in public education and eight of those have been in school administration. Before coming to Orland I was the vice principal in Corning at Maywood Middle School. Before becoming an administrator I was a classroom teacher for six years. Most of my teaching career was in middle schools where I taught physical education, math, science and alternative education.

I am really looking forward to the 2013-14 school year. I bring a stout work ethic, creative ideas, strong leadership and the drive to make C. K. Price a safe, fun and excellent environment for my staff and students to learn and work in.  I already know many of the staff members and have been involved in hiring some new teachers over the summer months. I have been collaborating with Steve Hiscock, the outgoing principal. He remains in the school district and is now the Director of Alternative and Special Education.

Mark Pfaff will be returning for his second year as the assistant principal. I have worked with Mark before on an administrative level and we've been collaborating this summer to ensure school gets off to a great start. There have been a number of staffing changes at C. K. Price. In fact, there will be seven new teachers who will join our staff this year.

Teachers who have transferred to other Orland schools or who have left the district are: Zandi Lawrence, Felix DeLuna, Rita Nutsch, Melissa Bishop, Abe Simmons, Terry Hennessey and Jody Madrigal. New teachers to the school are: Joy Padden, Laurie Teague, Kenny Button, Alberto Mojica, John Runyan, Dan Finley and Savanna Bunch. I'm happy to announce that   C. K. Price will once again have a counselor. Kathie Moloney, who has been the counselor at Orland High School, will be moving over to C. K. to join our team and offer counseling services to our students.

I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer. School will begin on Monday, August 19. School begins at 8:25.  We will be on an assembly schedule on Tuesday, August 20 so we can introduce our new staff to the student body. Student information/emergency packets will be given to students on the first day of school for parents to fill out and return by Friday, August 23.

Student class schedules are contained in this mailing. Students shall report to their first period class as indicated on their schedule. There will be no schedule changes unless there is an error or a teacher or administrator request. I look forward to seeing all the students real soon and having a fun and successful school year.

Your teachers will be able to let you know what supplies you will need for their classes.  Physical Education teachers will also let you know what PE clothes will be required.

Sincerely,

Jason Bramson

Principal

August 2013

Dear C.K. Price Parents/Guardians,

As a five year special education teacher and Assistant Principal at C.K Price, I am honored and privileged to continue serving the C.K. Price family as Assistant Principal.

C.K. Price strives to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment for all of our students as they begin preparation for high school and beyond. Maintaining focus on our core educational values is a daily mission as we aim for high academic growth and achievement. Our dedicated faculty is committed to providing our students with opportunities to develop into confident, knowledgeable, persevering, lifelong learners in addition to celebrating our diversity and individual talents.

Our traditional academic offerings are complimented by a wide range of extra-curricular learning activities. I encourage our students to be active participants in our musical, athletic, and other school-related clubs, as they are significant components to the overall educational experience.

I also invite our parents and families to become active partners in the educational process. Together, we can assist our students in realizing their full potential. In your daily routine, please visit the Parent Portal to stay informed of your student's progress. Serving on our Parent Club is another way for you to contribute to our learning community.

Students, as you prepare to come back to school in the fall, please keep in mind those good strategies for student success, including being on time to school each day, completing all of your classwork and homework, and being respectful and responsible.

Additionally, please feel free to contact our staff and administration with any questions or concerns that you may have. We have been given an opportunity to have an enormous impact on the lives of our students. Through an open line of communication between the administration, staff, and parents/guardians, we can guide our young learners to make healthy choices while achieving their dreams.

I am from a military family and have lived in Germany, Korea and Southern California. My father retired from the Air Force while stationed at Beale AFB.

I am a 1997 graduate of Wheatland High School, and a 2004 graduate of Yuba Community College with a Bachelor's of Arts in Liberal Studies. After graduating, I attended CSU, Chico and received my multiple subject and Mild/Moderate Education Specialist Credential in 2007. I was then hired in the Orland Unified School district as a split special education teacher at Fairview and Mill Street. The following year I took a special  education position at C.K. Price.

In 2011, I received my Moderate/ Severe Education Specialist Credential. During the 2012 -2013 school year I served as an intern assistant Principal at C.K. Price and received my administrative credential this summer.  I will receive my Master's degree in Education Leadership from CSU, Chico by the end of the year. My wife and I are blessed to have 3 wonderful children, 1 dog, 1 cat, and two goldfish.
